Pretending to be someone you’re not in a chat room isn’t unusual. Chances are you or a friend may have done it before.
But when pervs pretend, they do it with nastiest of intentions.
If you visit chat rooms or choose to IM with people you’ve just met, be extremely cautious. Trust no one. Ask lots
of questions. Demand to see proof of age and identity, like making them send you a pic of themselves holding up a
sign with your name on it. And never, ever share personal information or photos of yourself! If a chat partner sends
you an inappropriate message, block them or exit from the program immediately.
